Universal Credit has a mandatory 5-week wait before the first payment (although a loan may be sought against future payments).

Universal Credit
The standard allowance is £400.14/month (single, 25+) or £628.10/month (couple). Additional elements may apply for children, housing costs or disability. Savings above £16,000 disqualify you entirely; above £6,000 reduce your entitlement.
New Style JSA
Approximately £92.05/week for up to 6 months, provided you have made sufficient National Insurance contributions in the past two full tax years.
Support for Mortgage Interest
A government loan (not a grant) covering only the interest on your mortgage after 9 months. It accrues its own interest and is repaid when the property is sold. Homeowners receive no help with mortgage costs for the first 9 months.
Your total monthly expenditure £—
Maximum UC (single 25+) £400
Monthly shortfall on UC alone £—
